Paper Pumpkin Alternatives

You only have until November 10th to sign up for this month's Christmas themed Paper Pumpkin, so I thought I'd share a few of the alternatives that I've made with my kits over the last few months. First up are two cards I made with this kit...

I already did a video featuring my first card, where I simply added a little lace to the card to give it a little more texture. You can see that here.

I also used the stamps to make this cute card. I just stamped the cup image onto some designer series paper, and then fussy cut them out!

Second up, the Halloween kit is always a little bit of a stumper for me as I don't really "do" Halloween.

I did make an alternate goodie bag, I actually shared these with my team at our quarterly get together the other day.

I also used the supplies to make a few thank you cards, which I have way more use for!

That stamp set has gotten a lot of use actually, probably the most I've ever used a Paper Pumpkin set!

Now that you've seen some of the alternates, how can you not subscribe to My Paper Pumpkin? It's only $24.95 a month, and if you ever don't like a kit you can exchange or return it. Every month you'll get a project ready to build with exclusive stamps and ink you can use over and over again. If you're still not sure, and would like to try it out, get in touch with me and it can be arranged!

Happy Halloween!

I just wanted to share a quick project that I mass produced for Halloween. These were the treat bags I made for the kids in my Scout group, and I'm sharing a few with my friends on my Stampin' Up! team as well.

The Howl-O-Ween bundle of stamps and framelits, plus the Happy Haunting washi tape, made this tag come together in a snap! Just a few fun details like the silver 'spider silk' and the fun doily and we made about 50 of these in one evening!

Instagrammed Paper Pumpkin

I've been woefully bad at blogging while in school, but I have been keeping up on Instagram (@craftymedic if you want to follow me)! I went home for Thanksgiving, and on the ferry I busted out my Paper Pumpkin kit, with a few tweaks.

I grabbed the stamps and a few of my past ink spots, plus some note cards, embellishments, and adhesive. With that, I set to work to make some fun cards...

Last but not least, don't forget that you can get 15% off stamps right now! Contact me to order yours!

Heart Beats

I got a request for a special, super sized, card from some friends. The request I got was "something cardiac, medical, chest-tubey". Yup, I have weird friends!

But I did come up with this super cute card. Yes that rhythm strip is accurate (no fake made up stuff here) and fussy cut! I will not entertain whining about fussy cutting anymore. It's also an over sized card, so of course I had to use the awesome red envelope paper to make a custom sized envelope for it. This stuff would make a fantastic envelope liner too on a standard envelope.

Do you love that sentiment as much as I do? It's from the Watercolor Wishes kit, which I'm sure many people will be getting for Christmas this year! It's an amazing kit that comes with almost everything you need (minus glue) to make 20 super sweet cards, including an exclusive stamp set, inks, and a clear block! Order yours online today!

Wedding Gift

A couple weeks ago I attended a friends wedding. I knew I had to make something special as a gift, and I knew that they would appreciate some thank you cards! I used the colours from the invitation as a starting point, and went from there!

Up first I made a bag using the Gift Bag Punch Board to hold the cards.

Then I decorated a set of note cards to match!

Custom Gift Box

A couple weeks ago a friend asked me to make thank you cards and chocolate holders for her son's teachers. I love commissions like this where it's just "do whatever you want, have fun!" They're challenging, but they allow me to play with some products, not worry about what's new or retired, and try some things I haven't gotten around to.

For this project, I picked out some colours and papers first. I knew I wanted them to be bright, so I went with the Cherry On Top collection.

I made not only the card and gift box, but also a matching envelope for each card!

I'm especially proud of the box, it was custom sized to fit the chocolates. Take a look at the video below to find out how you can make a lidded box in any size to fit a gift you want to give!

Scouts Do Stuff

I had to share this SUPER cute card I made. I'm so proud of it! It's a total CASE from a card we were shown at convention, and the moment I saw it I knew I would have to make something like it for my scout group.

As some of you know, I got roped into joining a scout group as an advisor last year. I've loved it, and despite moving, I've found a new group to be part of! Now I've been roped into helping with younger and younger groups (initially I was only involved with the older sections, teenagers and young adults).

Anyway, this card features some brand new products that will be available in the new Holiday catalogue! Contact me if you'd like a copy and I'll get one out to you.

C-c-c-changes!

This post has been a long time coming, but there's no more putting it off. As I'm sure some of you know, and many of you have guessed (likely due to my lack of blogging and newsletters recently), I'm taking a step back from my Stampin Up business.

After working for the last few years as a paramedic, I'm finally moving on to a more stable career and starting nursing school next month. This means that my time is at a premium for the next few years, and as much as I love my classes and clubs, they will just having to take the back burner for a couple years.

I'm not relinquishing my status as a demonstrator, so you will still be able to order current products onlinesubscribe to my Paper Pumpkin, or become a demonstrator with me, including Clearance Rack items and Weekly Deals. In fact, I greatly appreciate all my customers and downline in this time as they make my financial situation a little less stressful! I may be a little slower to respond, but am still available by email anytime as well.

This change comes with a change of scenery too, I will be leaving my home on Vancouver Island yet again, and moving to the lower mainland. Once I get set up in my new home, I will hopefully be holding the occasional class too. I know I have lots of friends in the area, and I'd love to share the fun with them too!

Here's a look at some of the fantastic kits I will be using in these classes, email me to join in! You can also subscribe to my Paper Pumpkin to have a monthly craft escape with me in person or online.

Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop Welcomes the New Annual Catalogue

This hop is all about featuring some of the awesome new products from the new annual catalogue. You're probably here from Kath's blog, so welcome! If you stopped in directly to my post, hop along to the others on the hop to check out some of their wonderful projects.

Let me tell you, this catalogue is a doozy! There's so many fabulous products that I had a hard time choosing. But I finally decided to feature one of the amazing new stamp sets that gets better every time I look at it, and some of the products that coordinate so well with it.

Presenting the Sprinkles of Life stamp set! This is this years Ronald McDonald House Charities set, so a portion of every sale goes towards funding these great causes. I know several people who've made use of the RMHC house nearest me, and I know they have a huge impact on the families that need them. Just because this set wasn't awesome enough already, there's a coordinating punch too!

I actually held a class based around this stamp set and punch, and I'm sure your demonstrator can do the same (if you need a demo, contact any of us on this blog hop and we'd be happy to help you). We started out by pairing the stamp set with DSP from the Cherry On Top stack, my favourite new In Color Mint Macaron, and the Dotted Lace Ribbon. As a finishing touch, I used the fantastic new envelope paper to create a custom envelope for the card. This paper is amazing to work with, and a great touch for any card!

Next we made another card using the Cherry On Top paper. I used the Banner Triple Punch some more here too. I LOVE how easy it makes cutting flagged banners. No more finding the centre or fiddling with square punches. I love how I made this card, which has a totally different look and feel to it than the last one, using essentially the same supplies!

Now we moved onto some notecard sized cards. These are so quick and easy to put together, the cards and envelopes come together, and the cards are pre scored! They're also a great size, and you'll see why I think they're so awesome in a minute. Both of these cards are CASEd from the South Pacific convention demonstrations.

The first card uses the silver thread from the silver baker's twine to create the look of lightening behind the cloud. You could also use the new silver thread as well.

The second card uses some retired ribbon (shhh don't tell anyone) to add an extra layer of fun texture. By using the punch shapes in a slightly different way, we create yet another completely different feel for the card.

Then we moved on to make this super cute 3x4 card. I love making these little cards because of how convenient it is to cut the envelope and card base pieces from 12x12 paper. Some more ribbon, some sequins, and this card is perfect to tuck in with a birthday basket or gift!

Last but not least, we made this adorable gift bag using the gift bag punch board. I skipped the gussets on the side, and used just the tree builder punch to make the cute little bird and tree embellishment. The sentiment comes from another of my favourite stamp sets that carried over from the Occasions Catalogue called Sheltering Tree. And best of all, the note card sized cards and envelopes fit inside this bag perfectly! Wouldn't this make a great gift, filled up with cards for any occasion?

OK, so I was a bit of an overachiever for this blog hop, six items instead of three. But don't let that distract you from how amazing everyone else's projects are! You can head back to Kath's blog, or forward to Jean's blog to start along the way to see them all!

If you'd like to buy any of the current products here, or would like to organize a class based around them, get in touch with your demonstrator today!
